Bobbitt was selected by the City of Hardeeville to deliver multiple construction projects using the design-build method. Included in those projects was a new headquarters fire station (Station 81) and a new substation (Station 84).
Station 81, a 15,400-square-foot facility, includes four double deep bays with support rooms and a storage mezzanine. The apparatus bay has radiant tube heaters, electric and air vehicle connections, and trench drains. The living area features men’s and women’s locker rooms, bunk rooms, private sleeping quarters for officers, dayroom/kitchen, offices and an exercise room.
Bobbitt worked with the city’Hardeeville Fire Station 81s stakeholders through several floorplans and budget versions to evaluate various ideas and options for the station, determining the best value for the available budget. The new station is located adjacent to and replacing the existing, outdated Station 81. Bobbitt designed and phased construction so the existing station could remain in operation during construction.
