Groundbreaking Ceremony Held for Pender County Health and Human Services Building

On Wednesday, December 4th, Bobbitt and Pender County celebrated a significant milestone with the groundbreaking ceremony for the new 87,000-square-foot Health and Human Services building. This event marked the beginning of an exciting project aimed at enhancing the health and well-being of the Pender County community. Bobbitt is proud to partner with Pender County to bring this vital project to life.

The state-of-the-art facility will house the Pender County Health Department and Department of Social Services, offering a modern and efficient space designed to meet the county’s growing needs. Focused on improving service delivery and accessibility, this building represents a transformative investment in the well-being of Pender County residents.

Key Features of the New Facility:

  • Spacious Visitation Areas: Thoughtfully designed spaces to better serve individuals and families relying on Social Services.
  • Future-Ready Design: Accommodations for increased staffing and service demand to ensure the county can effectively respond to the needs of a growing population.
  • Modern Environment: A welcoming, secure space to improve the experience for residents and staff alike.

Speaking on behalf of Carolyn Moser, Director of the Pender County Health Department, County Manager Michael Silverman expressed appreciation for the teamwork and dedication that has gone into the project so far. “After five years of planning, it is hard to believe this long-awaited moment is finally here. This facility represents an investment in the well-being of all who enter its doors.”

Studio Director Bailey Allred represented the Bobbitt Team at the ceremony, sharing our enthusiasm for the design-build process and its positive impact on Pender County. Bailey stated, “Bobbitt is excited to take the Pender County team’s wealth of knowledge to understand how the departments function and build a space that creates efficiencies and grows with the community’s changing demographics.”

This project is a testament to Pender County’s dedication to supporting the health and safety of its residents, both now and in the future. By uniting health and social services, we are building a space that enhances access to care, reduces disparities, and promotes better health outcomes for everyone. As the design-build partner, Bobbitt is honored to contribute to a facility that will positively impact the community for decades to come. The project is set to complete in summer 2026.
