Another example of Bobbitt’s proficiency in medical offices and environmental sensitivity is this award-winning site. The 3,500-square-foot dentist office is nestled into its residential surroundings in Raleigh. The scale of the building, its roof lines and the use of brick and glass materials mesh with the communities nearby. Its intricate masonry offers a beautiful complement to the neighborhood.
Every square foot of this compact site was scrutinized and required up-front problem-solving to limit environmental disruption. The overall aesthetics of the site design, setbacks and parking were analyzed to establish the most appropriate and efficient footprint. To reinforce a green streetscape and mitigate the impact on adjacent residences, parking was placed on the side and in the rear.
This attention to detail and environmental stewardship were acknowledged with the Triangle Business Journal’s 2004 EDGE Award for “Project that Best Exemplifies Environmental Sensitivity,” as well as a Sir Walter Raleigh Award for community appearance.
