Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q

Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q restaurants are known for serving up eastern style BBQ, fried chicken, sweet tea and banana pudding for 30+ years. Bobbitt was chosen to build two of the restaurant’s newest locations.

The 5,000-square-foot restaurant located on Eastern Avenue in Nashville, NC, offers an urban take on a vintage style. Brick pattern, flat roof, and the high gridded ceiling were inspired by the aesthetics of traditional tobacco warehouses. A cloth awning above the counter and exterior antique bronze metal awnings are among the finishes.

Bobbitt was faced with the challenges of a very precise kitchen layout and incorporating both new and traditional eco-friendly elements into the building. Examples include an ultraviolet light system to keep the air clean, paperless sheetrock to prevent mold, and expansive windows for natural sunlight.
