S.C. Department of Natural Resources
Bobbitt completed the new Region II facility for the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (DNR), the state’s primary advocate and steward of its natural resources. The 8,800-square-foot building is located on South Evander Drive adjacent to the Francis Marion University campus in Florence, South Carolina.
Following a competitive selection process that included more than 20 firms, Bobbitt was chosen based on its experience and proven track record. With a portfolio of more than 3,000 commercial projects across North and South Carolina, the firm brought the expertise and reliability needed to successfully deliver the project.
The facility incorporates a range of sustainable features, including energy-efficient lighting, ample daylighting, water-saving fixtures, low-VOC paints and adhesives, and a durable, all-inorganic exterior designed for long-term performance and minimal maintenance. During construction, Bobbitt also prioritized jobsite material recycling to reduce environmental impact.
Bobbitt partnered with Columbia-based architect LTC Associates, continuing a strong history of collaboration. Together, the team provided a comprehensive design-build approach that included site planning, permitting, architectural design, and construction.
The Region II office serves the public by managing boating registrations, issuing hunting and fishing licenses, providing boater and hunter education, and responding to general inquiries. It is one of four major DNR facilities serving communities across South Carolina.
